My Passion Projects

As a social worker, I am a multi-passionate professional by training. This means it won’t be surprising to find out that I manage multiple efforts and projects at a time either as an individual or with people I know, like, trust & enjoy!

If there is a particular project you’re looking for, you’ll find it here. If you’re looking to collaborate and create one, let’s see if we’re a good fit to work together!

From my private practice to my most exciting collaborations – each project I’m invested in creating has a home here.

Take a look around!

Relational Spaces: My Primary Passion

This is my flagship project – my private practice: Relational Spaces! I opened my office in June 2017 under the name “Identity, Growth & Change, LLC.”

I am deeply committed to the power of one’s identity contributing to healthy growth and lasting change. I primarily offered mental health services to a small number of clients.

As I expanded my offerings to trainings, workshops and consultations, I re-branded my practice to encompass the spaces where I engaged important relationships and Relational Spaces was born in November 2019!

This has allowed me to continue to develop my skillset in mental health therapy, education, coaching, consulting and training to the major areas of relationships in our lives where healthy connection matters most: our families, friends, school, work & community.

My Passion Projects

Here are a few of my favorite projects that I am building, growing and collaborating on with like-minded professionals and members in the community.

The Divorced Therapist

This is one of the initial projects that I launched not long after my divorce. It is a series of blogs sharing my reflections on relationships and divorce.

It’s become a conversation I enjoy having with others and is the foundation for my first podcast!

Stay tuned!

The Bookworm Therapist

It is no secret that my dream retirement job is to work at a bookstore or a library. I love to read.

As a bookworm, I’ve read hundreds of books over my life and I’ve found myself consistently drawn to self-help books & relationship books for partnership and parenting. I use books as bibliotherapy with my clients.

This is a series of blogs where I share my thoughts and insights about the books I read that have changed me as a person and a professional.

The Utah Center for Connection

In 2008, I was introduced to Relational Cultural Theory and it has consistently changed my life.

It is a feminist theory born of the social movements in the 1960’s and 1970’s in the United States. Founded in Boston, Massachussets, it brought 5 women together who created the framework that discussed relationship as the core need for healthy human development.

It has influenced and been influenced by scholars who focus on race, class, gender & sexuality in their work. I have taken its principles as the foundation of my professional practice.

The Black Clinicians

Health is your ultimate wealth. It is by this saying we live as a collective of Black medical and mental health clinicians.

What started as an idea for a subcommittee of the Utah Black Roundtable, has grown into a passionate group of clinicians dedicated to the heath and wellness of all people, with an intentional focus on Black communities.

Through videos, blogs and podcasts, we gather and share our experiences and our advice with our audience.

The Black LDS Legacy Project

What began as a group of women gathering in sisterhood to share their experiences as Black women in their shared faith at the Church of Jesus Christ, has turned into an annual Black History Month conference at the Washington D.C. Temple Visitor’s Center.

Every Wakanda Weekend in February (also known as President’s Day and/or Valentine’s Day weekend) we gather with Saints to share the stories of Black members in the Church of Jesus Christ.

Just Us Socializing

In collaboration with my work at The Utah Center for Connection, Just Us Socializing is a multi-function project that seeks to create conversation around race and race relations within community.

Just Us Parents is a subcommittee of Just Us Socializing. Its aims are to empower parents to engage their homes, schools and communities around healthy racial identity development for their K12 students.

I want to know more about your projects! How can I get involved?
